Interoperability: The key to coordinating the sharing of data in a cohesive, quality-efficient manner. Hospitals and physician networks are working day-by-day to coordinate a seamless system of transferring patient and medical data through a HIPAA-compliant guideline. Simultaneously, these networks are implementing new technologies into their interface(s) in order to properly support this new system of communications. Unfortunately, coordination of care among institutions can still be a nightmare. Individual systems are rarely interoperable; and health plans are reluctant to participate in a system if the cost to implement new technology is prohibitive.
Health-e-cITi New Jersey provides a new plan of action that can circumvent these issues through the use of an optimal and cost-efficient clinical repository system that brings patient medical records to the fingertips of physicians in a simple, user-friendly gateway: IGI’s industry-leading ORBIT® healthcare portal platform. An electronic medical record system that has been implemented into the healthcare system of New Jersey for nearly 13 years, ORBIT® offers a vast array of physician and patient e-services that works to address and negate the challenges of blocked access to the most updated patient information.
Involved in this process are 8 hospitals in the Greater Newark Area who have come together to form this Health Information Exchange that will be utilizing the ORBIT® Platform as a means of providing seamless access to paperless medical records.
Health-e-cITi-NJ, a health information exchange of eight hospitals in the Greater Newark Area, will be utilizing cutting edge technology from IGI Health as its web-based portal platform. For more information visit Jersey Hospitals Collaborate for HIE
