Health e-cITi-NJ is bringing together the Newark community care givers as well as the Garden State and surrounding regional healthcare industry stakeholders. These stakeholders will participate in an open network addressing issues related to improving the quality of patient care while working towards regional coordination of and compliance with HIPAA, NJ HINT, and applicable Federal and State healthcare laws and regulations. Our mission in addressing emerging issues in our community related to Healthcare Information Technology, applicable Federal and State healthcare laws and regulations and is to build a network with the following considerations:
Health e-cITi-NJ was created for the purpose of improving quality and coordination of care; improving measurable outcomes and facilitating the exchange of healthcare information, while reducing costs of care by reducing duplicity of services for the residents and access to important information for the residents of the city of Newark, a significant portion of which are not or underinsured, and its surrounding areas. This will tangibly improve care to the significant Medicaid eligible population served by the participating entities and providers.
Network
In mid-2009 Newark Beth Israel Medical Center announced plans to launch the collaborative, comprehensive electronic health information exchange which New Jersey knows today as Health-e-cITi. Over the past 2 years this project has expanded its network of portal users for the following esteemed network of hospitals.
Christ Hospital is a 381-bed acute care facility located in Jersey City, New Jersey. Employed with a medical staff of over 500 physicians, Christ Hospital offers a vast range of services such as primary angioplasty for cardiac patients to intensity modulated radiation therapy for those battling cancer. Utilizing and delivering cutting-edge technologies to diagnose and implement disease circumvention protocols, Christ Hospital is the only facility in Hudson County, New Jersey to offer IMRT therapy, which is the most significant breakthrough in cancer treatment in recent years.
East Orange General Hospital is a 211-bed non-profit community hospital and an emerging urban medical center in North Jersey. East Orange General Hospital provides inpatient acute care in a wide range of specialties, including cardiology, behavioral health, intensive care, and physical rehabilitation. A non-teaching hospital, East Orange General Hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission of Health and is acknowledged as an esteemed provider of quality care.
Jersey City Medical Center is a private, non-profit organization that is a member of Liberty Health Systems. Comprised of two main facilities, the Wilzig Hospital and the Provident Bank Ambulatory Center, the facility has been designated as a regional trauma center and approved as a core teaching affiliate of Mount Sinai School of Medicine, as well as the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, the Center has scored in the top 10 percent of hospitals in the state for their care of heart attacks, surgical improvements, and heart failure. Jersey City Medical Center also received a 95 in pneumonia treatment, 97 in heart attacks, heart failure and surgical care, percentages that represent the number of patients treated properly and released.
The Meadowlands Hospital Medical Center is a 230-bed, acute care community hospital, fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, the American College of Surgeons for Cancer Care, the American Diabetes Association, the College of American Pathologists, the American Association of Blood Banks, the American College of Radiology and the Medical Society of New Jersey. Memberships include the American Hospital Association, the New Jersey Hospital Association, and the Hudson Perinatal Consortium. The Meadowlands Hospital is certified by the ACR with the highest ratings in Ultrasound, CT, MRI and Mammography making it one of only a few select hospitals with these four national certifications. St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center has grown into a 651-bed academic tertiary medical center and state designated Trauma Center. St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center is staffed by more than 1,000 Board-certified physicians, many of whom possess multiple board certifications. The medical center also possesses approximately 180 Medical Residents and fellows, a nursing team that has been recognized by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as recipients of the Magnet Award for Nursing Excellence, and an experienced clinical and administrative staff.
